What Is TMS Therapy?
TMS stands for ‘transcranial magnetic stimulation.’ TMS is an FDA-approved depression and OCD treatment that treats symptoms at its source. TMS uses a magnetic coil that stimulates the area of the brain affected by depression or OCD. Over a short period of time, TMS restores the functioning of under-active neurons so that you can enjoy a better quality of life.

Is TMS Covered By My Insurance
Yes! Palmier accepts all major insurance, including Medicare and Medicaid. The best part is almost every insurance plan has reduced their prequalifying criteria from just a few years ago. Now, instead of requiring 4 failed anti-depressants, most plans are down to just 2 and Medicare is down to 1. Best of all, Palmier can get your out-of-pocket cost TO THE PENNY with just a quick phone call.
What Is TMS Therapy
TMS stands for ‘transcranial magnetic stimulation’. TMS is an FDA-approved depression and OCD treatment that treats depression at its source. TMS uses a magnetic coil that stimulates the production of neurotransmitters (mood chemicals). Over a short period of time, TMS restores the functioning of underactive neurons so you can enjoy a better quality of life.
Who Can Get TMS Treatments
Most people we consult with are qualified for TMS. There are very few conditions that would prevent someone from getting TMS. Generally, metal in and around the head can (but not always) present a treatment issue.
What Are TMS Treatments Like?
The paddle which delivers the TMS is positioned on the left front side of the head. You will hear a clicking sound and feel a tapping sensation on your head when the magnetic pulses are delivered (feels like a TENS unit). Most patients play on their phone or watch television during treatment. Our patients tell us they get used to the treatment right away and are able to concentrate on other things during their TMS sessions.
What is the success rate and how long do the results last?
TMS in general, has a success rate of over 70%. Our patients see a success rate of over 75%, which is due in part to our psychiatrists’ training and familiarity with TMS and knowledge of what medications should be reduced or eliminated before beginning TMS and because of our encouragement to use the time commitment of TMS to make other changes in their lifestyle and routine, like diet and exercise and eliminating toxic conditions in their life like work/life balance and relationship stress.
TMS results are also very robust. If our patients return for subsequent rounds of TMS, they usually return 18 to 24 months later. We rarely have a patient seek additional treatment in less than 12 months of treatment.
